How Can I Fix A Refrigerator That's Water Dispensing Not Working?

If no water coming from the dispenser, or if it dispenses slowly. A refrigerator's water dispenser can develop problems that, however, can be professionally solved. The water dispenser will work after pressing a paddle-shaped piece on the refrigerator door that functions as a lever. The lever rotates a valve on the back of the refrigerator connected to tubes that will be dispensed from a tank. A filter is another important component of your refrigerator that can be located inside or outside the refrigerator. The dispensed water passes through the filter to eradicate bacteria and chemicals harmful to drinking water. Normally, you would fill your 8-ounce glass of the dispenser in no more than 7 seconds, but if you have a trickle or stop water coming out after pressing the paddle, then you have a problem that can be solved by a refrigerator service technician.

Frozen water tube in door:

If the pump is running after pressing the vane with its glass, it means that the mechanical and electrical parts are working. If there is no water supply, there could be a blockage somewhere in the system that interferes with the water flow.

To determine if there is a blockage in your water supply system, your repairman will disconnect the tube located at the bottom of the refrigerator door and use a blower to pass the air through it. If the air does not pass, it means that the tube is frozen and must be defrosted.

Water Inlet Valve:

The water inlet valve opens to supply water to the dispenser. If the water inlet valve is defective, the water valve won’t open. The valve requires 20 psi to function properly. Make sure the water pressure to the valve is at least 20 psi. If the water pressure is sufficient, use a multimeter to test the continuity of the water inlet valve. If the water inlet valve has no continuity, replace it.

Dispenser Control Board:

The dispenser control board governs most of the functions of the dispensing system. If the control board is defective, it may stop supplying power to the entire dispensing system. If only part of the dispenser does not work, test each of the components of the dispenser before testing the control board. It is more likely that a single party has failed. If the entire dispensing system does not work, the control panel is more likely to be at fault.

Door Switch:

The door switch turns off the water dispenser when the refrigerator door is open. If door switch fails, the dispenser won’t turn on. To determine if the door switch is defective, use a multimeter to test its continuity. If the door switch has no continuity when activated, replace it.
